Each month, we take some time off to have a chat with an ACP employee to find out what they do and what they’re like.

This month’s employee: Poon Kum Seng

  1. What do you do at ACP?

Being an account manager, I am involved in servicing our clients and looking out for opportunities to expand our business. The core business activity of ACP Computer is to provide high quality and cost effective training solutions to our customers. I also keep our customers updated on the latest ICT industry trends and the latest developments in technology.
Our clients come from across all industries, from corporate, government organizations and SMEs and as long as they are looking for a solution to improve their productivity, this is when I will come to them and share with them how our solutions can help. I am constantly looking for opportunities to expand our business and also seek collaborations with potential partners.

  1. What is unique or motivating about the work you do at ACP?

Basically, seeing that the solutions we have implemented help to improve our customer’s productivity is the most fruitful at the end of the day. That’s very motivating.

  1. What does your day to day work look like?

I attend to our customer’s inquiries about solutions through emails, incoming calls or schedule appointments to share with or demonstrate to them the respective solutions they are looking for. They are quite important tasks for me. The next thing is to contact our clients and understand if our solution is running well and how our clients can better utilize these solutions in their industry. Sometimes, I will be involved in the end-users training on using our solutions. I will also be keeping up to date with new technology and doing research to improving our solutions

  1. Is there a word or phrase that best describes your team culture and why?

Actually I work with different teams, as they are the subject matter experts. In ACP we have to work in teams.  For example, I will usually work with the training teams to discuss certain requirements on training that our clients have come up with. Because each of us has strengths in certain areas, I have to work with different teams to come up with solutions and propose them to customers. I will consult the technical team to understand how the project can proceed. Sometimes, I will invite the team members along with me for meetings, as they have more expertise on the subjects.
Actually I also learn while working along with other teams. For example having gained an understanding about the information from the technical team, I will be able to advise my customer and provide them more details. I work and learn along the way.

  1. What is about working at ACP that has most impressed you?

It would be on how our solutions has helped our clients.  Being a SME, meeting deadlines and coming up with new proposal information is quite crucial to move ahead in these areas. It is great that each of us can do our jobs to ensure that things are being done. Colleagues are quite helpful and work together towards the same goals and the management also provides guidance on how should we approach the new tasks based on their experiences. The team will come together as a family to address new challenges.
